Mary's Obituary

Decatur - Mary L. Cameron, 91, passed away October 19, 2020 at AO Fox Nursing Home in Oneonta.

She was born January 6, 1929 in New York City, the daughter of Anthony and Margaret (Bame) O’Connor.

She married Alexander Cameron on April 24, 1949 in Elmont, New York. He predeceased her on March 23, 1989.

Mary was an LPN at the Veteran’s Medical Center in Northport. In 1976 she moved to South Valley. She continued working as a nurse at the Albany VA Medical Center.  After retirement she worked for the Worcester Central School as an aid and a substitute nurse. 

She was a member of St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Worcester. She was an avid reader and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

She is survived by her children, Mary and husband, Fred Kersman of Decatur and Douglas Cameron of Hollywood, CA; grandchildren, Alex and wife, Heather Kersman, Fred Kersman and Tiffany Thompson, and Johnathan Kersman; great grandchildren, Piper and Griffin; niece, Margaret and Jeff Valyo and family; nephews, Frank and Elaine Bame and family and Richard and Linda Grey and family. 

Calling hours will be Thursday, October 29 from Noon to 1:30 PM at the Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main St., Worcester. Please wear a face cover, social distance, and be prepared to wait to enter the building. 

A graveside service will be Thursday, October 29 at 2 PM at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester, with the Fr. Joseph Arockiasamy officiating. Please wear a face cover and maintain social distancing.
