June 16, 1938 - April 06, 2019
My life warranty expired on April 6, 2019. Not bad, it lasted 80 years.
I was the second of three daughters born to Dominick and Anna (LaBate) Latella of Greenwich, CT.
Educated at Greenwich High School, B.A. from The College of New Rochelle (NY), Master's Degree in Spanish from Middlebury Spanish Language School. I went on to become a Secondary Language Teacher. I participated in the Institute for Advanced Spanish Studies in Spain.
I shared my knowledge for 33 years at Roger Ludlow H.S. (Fairfield, CT) and Rye Neck Middle School (Mamaroneck, NY). The joy of teaching was reborn at The Lifetime Learning College in The Villages when I relocated in 2005.
I'll miss my loving husband Donald of 45 years, my two sisters, Catherine and Virginia Latella of Greenwich, CT, and my extended family in Florida: Kristen Phin/Ceppos (Ashton and Cassidy), in Texas: Elsa Phin/Bollas and Christopher (Elena), in California: Don Phin, Jr. and Loren (Kyle), James and Kate Phin (great grandkids Declan and Hadley), Danny and Casey Phin (great grandkids Sydney and Drew).
I'll miss my two cats Ralph and Louie, my neighbors, and all my Italian and Spanish study friends that I have loved like "a second family".
If you wish to do something in memory of me, contribute to any organization that collects school supplies, backpacks, pens, etc. for kids in need. If you can find time, tutor, volunteer or be a student mentor. A big thank you to the wonderful nurses and aides of Compassionate Care Hospice. Their dedication was truly "Compassionate".
